What we commonly call neo- traditional tattoo is a style that is often said to be derived from the
American Old School style. It is extremely popular and is quickly identifiable due to its bright colors and distinctive lines. In general, the drawings are highlighted by black lines and dark areas that maximize the beauty of the color. The neo- traditional Asian style returns to one of the recurring influences of the neo traditional tattoo: Art Nouveau. It is known that Art Nouveau drew heavily from Japanese artistry; an art form that was being introduced to the West at the end of the nineteenth century. In particular this influence can be seen in the flat drawing and sinuous lines. The neo-traditional Asian tattoo preserves some of the themes and sensitivity of the traditional Japanese, Korean and Chinese styles and adapts it to the contemporary.
